Summary The Senior Planner will plan, schedule, and coordinate the flow of work and materials to meet customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage new product development and plan for new product releases.
Review and distribute production, work, and shipment schedules per MRP system prompts and analytical judgment.
Work in conjunction with purchasing, engineering, customer service, program managers, quality, and the manufacturing department to determine progress of work and completion dates.
Compile reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.
Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials used, and customer information so that status reports can be completed.
Communicate priorities with other personnel, vendors, and customer service to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, backlogs, or other interruptions; collaborating with management, production, and engineering.
Examine documents, materials, and ;products, and monitor work processes in order to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
Responsible for managing the daily, weekly, and monthly MRP system maintenance.
Meet as required with the buyer to ensure that Purchase Orders are placed on time and to ensure on-dock date required by the system to support production.
Provide all monthly, weekly, and daily shop and assembly requirements to the Materials Manager, Manufacturing Manager, and appropriate Leads.
Assist production managers with work oder prioritization of processes and shop requirements.
Support all requests for delivery information from teh Sales Administration Group on an as needed basis.
Employee’s primary duties require him/her to use discretion and independent judgment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or 5-7+ years Planning experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, along with Microsoft products and MRP systems.

Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to complete assigned work. Ability to use sound judgement and decision-making when considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions. Ability to prioritize projects and deadlines. Ability to manage time effectively.
Other Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs. Advanced working knowledge of MRP/Mapix and it's elements. Advanced knowledge of producing products through procurement, the shop floor, outside processing, and assembly.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air conditioned and heated office. The noise level is moderate. The shop floor is in the same building as the office and will be required to occasionally visit the shop which may expose the employee to loud noise and fumes. The noise level in the shop is high.
