Capabilities

CEF is a full service aerospace manufacturing company with diverse capabilities associated with our vertically integrated manufacturing approach.  CEF has the capability to manufacture most of the components within our assemblies, whether it is machined components like gears or housings, motor assemblies or printed circuit boards.  We do however go through a stringent make versus buy analysis and outsource products to maximize affordability to the end customer.   

Large Vertical Machining CentersCEF's Machining Capability is diverse & we currently have a variety of CNC and manual machining equipment including:

  • Vertical milling – single spindle with 4th axis positioning. Maximum acceptable part size up to 160” x 24” x 18”
  • Lathe – up to 3” through spindle capacity and Y-axis milling
  • Turning-center – multiple chucks with 2” spindle capacity and Y-axis milling
  • Gun Drill – up to 72” capacity for 2” stock
  • Grinders – ID, OD, and thread up to 2”
  • Broaching – up to 2” tool size with 10 ton capacity
  • Cut-off saw – up to 24” x 24”
  • Gear cutting – includes bevel up to 3”, hobbing up to 6”, standard up to 2”

Deburr

  • Vibratory tumbling – tubs up to 48”
  • Glass and aluminum bead blast chambers for parts up to 30”
  • Rotary gear deburring system

Specialized Inspection Equipment

All testing & inspection is done in-house using state-of-the-art test equipment.  CEF is capable of measuring parts up to 48” x 24” x 18” in an automated CMM linked to our design software. 

CEF has additional equipment for specialized operations including: 

  • Optical Comparators
  • Digital height gage – 48” capable
  • Video image comparator
  • Digital machine tool pre-setter
  • Computer controlled test fixtures

Personnel

CEF maintains a core group of professional and hourly employees to meet the needs of our customers. This includes the following areas:

  • Material Planners – responsible for the scheduling and forecasting of manufacturing and assembly jobs within their respective product-lines
  • Buyers – responsible for negotiating best price and delivery for materials required to manufacture products.
  • Manufacturing Engineers – responsible for directing workflow through the creation of routings and BOMs to support product realization.
  • Quality Engineers – responsible for the implementation, auditing, and root cause analysis of our AS-9100 quality system procedures.
  • Quality technicians – responsible for the inspection of products and either incoming inspection or in-process inspection points.
  • Electro-mechanical assemblers – responsible for a variety of complex assemblies based on electrical or electronic components.
  • Mechanical assemblers – responsible for a variety of complex assemblies based on structural or mechanical components.
  • CNC machinists – responsible for the set-up and running of CNC equipment and the quality of piece parts produced by the machines.

Programming

All CNC programs are created using MasterCam by in-house programmers.
